Mixed train 5789 stops at Bow Valley at dusk for opposing traffic
while passengers wait patiently for their car to pull forward so they can board.
Dayliners 9056 and 9020 are spotted on the station spur for early morning departure northbound.

New features on RHJ Rail for 2009 include scenery enhancements with a large winter scene, areas representing all four seasons, a waterfall illuminated at night, picturesque lakes, and lighted vehicles.

Special effects include emergency vehicles with LED and fibre-optic flashing lights, a refurbished flying saucer, CPR Holiday Train with DCC-controlled lighting effects, day and nighttime operations, and many sound effects and animations, most of which are automated or controlled by DCC or computer.

Layout Description:

  • Present-day western Canadian theme with restored historical equipment,
  • Layout style: around-the-walls with one peninsula,
  • Over-all dimensions of 42 by 19 feet; viewing area of 237 square feet,
  • Double main line 2.5 scale miles; total track 11.5 scale miles,
  • Control: Digitrax DCC with radio, plug-in and computer throttles,
  • Computer layout monitoring and control of special effects.

Other Features:

  • Lighted auto showroom with rotating display, scale model of Corner Gas,
  • Historical park with operating amusement rides and music,
  • Operating cable car, skating rink, animated playground,
  • Burning building with emergency vehicles and flashing lights,
  • Sound effects including fire alarm, church bells, music, crossing bells, and trains.
